“DION FORTUNE” was the pseudonym of Violet Mary Firth (1890-1946), a medium and author and one of the foremost British occultists. She was a member of the Alpha et Omega order, before being expelled and joining the Christian Mystic Lodge of the Theosophical Society, of which she became president. Being dissatisfied with some of the views of the latter lodge, however, she left and formed the Community of the Inner Light. She wrote prolifically, both fiction and non-fiction, her works including Psychic Self-Defense (1930) and The Mystical Qabalah (1935), and the novels The Demon Lover (1927) and The Winged Bull (1935).
The Flute of Seven Stops, a short story originally published in 1936, which has previously never been reprinted and which is almost impossible to find, is presented here together with several other rare magical writings, including the six-part treatise “Occultism from the Inside” which has never before been printed in book-form.

About the Author
Dion Fortune (1891–1946), founder of The Society of the Inner Light, is widely recognised as one of the most luminous figures of twentieth-century esoteric thought. A prolific writer, pioneer psychologist, powerful psychic, and spiritualist, she dedicated her life to the revival of the Western Mystery Tradition. She was a member of the Order of the Golden Dawn, whose members included at various times such people as A. E. Waite, Aleister Crowley, and W. B. Yeats.
